Title:  An innovative demonstration for low energy buildings: components, energy techniques and ICT tools (2016-17)

Worth 3,000,000 PKR

Funding Agency  US-Aid through U.S Pakistan Center for Advance Studies in Energy (U.S PCAS-E), University of Engineering & Technology, Peshawar.

Description  The project is to develop a building envelop preferably the faculty offices area of EE department at Abasyn, which can later serve as a prototype as well as an energy sustainable lab at the end of project dissemination. The project targets zero energy or very low energy building design, so we shall work on two tier system i.e. we want to adapt intelligent energy management based on energy efficient sensors, as well as energy generation within the site.

Description  The project aims at the development of solar still technology, which is capable of utilizing readily available solar energy to provide distilled water to households in rural Pakistan.

Title:  PoliTo at Pakistan (PAP) – Internationalization of academic affairs (2016-17)

Worth 10,000 Euros

Funding Agency Italian University Grant by Politecnico di Torino (PoliTo), Italy

Description  The project aims at increasing collaboration between PoliTo and top Pakistani Universities. A vibrant community in the form of PoliTo alumni is already available and willing to play an active role for the execution of the project which aims to execute activities for the recruitment of talented prospective students for PoliTo from Pakistan. The project also intends to facilitate the cooperation of PoliTo with the top universities and secondary schools in Pakistan. We believe that, with such initiative, the association between Pakistan and PoliTo will achieves new heights in the internationalization of academic affairs.

Title:  Development of a low cost optical platform for real-time monitoring of turbidity in water (2017-19).

Worth 2,700,000 PKR

Funding Agency  National Research Program for Universities (NRPU) by HEC in collaboration with Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan.

Description  The proposed research project is about developing a low cost and portable optical measuring equipment for turbidity analysis in drinking water samples. Turbidity is one of the most essential water quality parameter. Our technique includes online continuous monitoring of turbidity rather than end-point detection.

Worth 200,000 PKR

Funding Agency  ICT Undergraduate Project Funding Initiative 2016.

Description  ICT R & D since its creation has always encouraged funding of undergraduate projects across universities in Pakistan. AUP EE Deptt. also forwarded six proposals in this regard from which four will be selected for funding.
