Master of Science (M.Sc) in Political Science


M.A Political Science is a two-year post graduate degree that includes a comprehensive and through study of Political Science as a discipline at advanced level. It involves the study of the theory and practice of politics, description and analysis of political system and political behavior. It also covers the study of both national and international political systems, historical and modern political systems, public administration, governmental policies & procedures, international relations and public affairs. The study of this degree includes topics such principles of Political Science, Political System of Pakistan, Comparative governments, Politics of International Economic Relations, Foreign Policy Analysis, Constitutional and Political Development in Pakistan, History and Principles of International Relations, Public Administration, Government and Politics in Pakistan, International law, Muslim World and its Political dynamics, Political development, Social Change and Research Methodology etc. This degree provides widespread career scopes to the students.

Objectives and Learning Outcomes of M.Sc Political Science Programme:

The objective of the programme is to develop students' knowledge of international politics with a comprehensive empirical approach to understanding many prominent problems in contemporary world politics, especially topics where domestic and international politics cannot be understood in isolation from each other.

Upon completion of this degree, the students will:

  • Demonstrate an ability to think critically regarding political problems, trends, and developments.
  • Exhibit an ability to communicate effectively.
  • Acquire strong analytical writing skills.
  • Obtain knowledge and understanding of fundamental concepts and theories in political science.
  • Be able to apply political science theories and/or concepts to real-world cases or be able to apply a case or set of cases using an appropriate theory.
  • Evaluate theories, either in light of empirical evidence or on theoretical grounds.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of their rights and obligations as a citizen.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • B.A/B.Sc/B.Com/BBA or equivalent 14 year of education
  • 60% marks in B.A/B.Sc/B.Com/BBA or equivalent qualification

Ineligibility:

  • Rusticated/expelled from a University for misconduct
  • Involved in offence of moral turpitude
  • Currently enrolled in an academic programme in other College/University
